Following my mock-up design of the cover, I intend to set about working on a photography shoot for the central image that will be denoted on my magazine. I have decided to feature one subject in my image and have asked a willing friend to model for me (using a good friend means that we can have flexibility on the time of the shoot and I could, arguably, take more comfortable photos of the subject as they wont feel too pressured or awkward around myself and the camera).
The brief to create a Sixth Form magazine brings about its own series of themes and conventions to keep in mind; what is featured in the background of my image will be important. The kind of mise-en-scene I am striving for is a classroom like setting or more preferably a library. The practicalities of achieving the perfect backdrop could prove difficult- we would have to firstly find a vacant classroom and it may be unrealistic to expect the library to accommodate for our noisy photoshoot antics!
Using a fellow Sixth Former to model for my cover, I don't have to worry too much on how they come across aesthetically. They will already be clad in formal school/sixth form attire and there would be no question over the age being portrayed. Using a genuine Sixth Former for a Sixth Form magazine will prove relatable to the magazine's readership.
I own my own camera and so am already comfortable with handling the equipment and going about my shoot.
